This is the look of the outward-facing edge of your countertops. You can get really fancy or stick to a more basic look, depending on the style in the rest of your kitchen.

Simple vs. Intricate
A simple edge profile is good for kitchens and bathrooms under heavy use. It makes cleaning quicker and easier, and doesn’t overpower the look of anything else in the room.

- Waterfall
You can tell just by looking whether an edge profile is understated or flashier.
Intricate designs are best in lower use kitchens and bathrooms (or where you’re willing to do a little more work cleaning because the look works with the rest of your space).
These include:
- Bevel
- Set-back
- Ogee
Custom edge profiles
The edge profiles above are the most common designs homebuyers choose, but they aren’t the only ones.
Because edge profiles are created by precision machinery, virtually anything is possible.
Of course, there’s a reason custom edge profiles are rare. Extremely intricate edge profiles have a way of taking away from the look of the granite itself.
